The bundled sky-data.json is a compact, transformed subset of those data files.
It contains 800 catalog stars: all 170 distinct nodes of the 12 zodiac figures
and Orion, then the brightest remaining stars. Star positions, visual magnitudes,
B−V color indices and HIP identifiers are retained. Figure lines are retained.
Constellation centers are calculated spherical means of their line nodes.

Upstream identifies the star source as XHIP: An Extended Hipparcos Compilation,
Anderson E., Francis C. (2012), VizieR V/137D. Upstream identifies constellation
figures with the IAU constellation page and modifications by Olaf Frohn.
The IAU defines constellation boundaries, not one mandatory set of stick figures.

All coordinates are equatorial J2000.0, with right ascension converted from hours
to degrees and wrapped into [-180, 180], as documented by D3-Celestial.
This is an interactive catalog atlas, not the current sky at a visitor’s location.
No date/location horizon, precession, planets, or rising-sign calculation is
performed by sky.js. Astronomical constellation figures and equal 30-degree
astrological signs are distinct. The Sanskrit labels are cultural sign names.

Star/line motion is a presentation effect. Stars keep catalog coordinates; small
parallax, twinkle, and camera drift are not physical simulation. Projection is
stereographic. Geometry outside the useful front view is clipped.
